How to care for your fresh flowers

  • Use fresh warm water in the vase
  • Mix flower preservative/flower food in the vase water
  • Remove any foliage going below the water line
  • Trim the ends of stems at least 2cm on an angle
  • Flowers need to go in water within two hours, 1 hour if warm weather
  • Do not place in direct sunlight, in a draft or near air conditioning /heater/ fireplace

Sunflowers, hydrangea, poppies, need to be shocked into drinking due to the make up of the cells in their stems. You may notice a brown mark on bottom of the stem, this is the scolding mark. They need their stems cut, be placed into boiling water for 30 seconds, then placed in to warm vase water with the flower food.
